Bookkeeping Cleanup applies to records up to your last tax filing. You must have filed your prior tax return and provide a copy before cleanup services can begin. We can't start cleaning up your past books until we receive all the required supporting documentation, which we'll request from you after our first meeting.

Once we receive all the necessary documentation, we typically complete your cleanup within 14 days. In some cases, it may take longer depending on the timeliness of documentation and the complexity of your books. Sometimes, it can be completed even faster!

What does the bookkeeper cleanup service look like?

If you are new to Quickbooks, in the cleanup/setup phase, your bookkeeper helps you set up your chart of accounts, connects your banks, and teaches you the basics of QuickBooks. If you have information in QuickBooks already, but it doesn't match up with your previous tax filing or your bank statements, your bookkeeper will help clean it up in the first month of service.

If you've been managing your own books on software like QuickBooks, you might encounter duplicate or missing transactions in your general ledger, which can throw off your financial reporting. Duplicate entries are common, especially when using various third-party data syncs. Our experienced bookkeepers can quickly identify and fix these issues, and our monthly subscriptions help prevent them from happening again. Your accountant may also make adjustments at year-end. We understand when to capitalize transactions instead of expensing them and other technical accounting nuances. We can help ensure journal entry syncs are properly set up and a clearing account is used correctly.
